10 things to do for a better life.

  1. Practice Mindfulness. We are all human beings. We want to do the right things, but its not always that we are successful in doing so. So, if you promised yourself that you are not going to go for that ice-cream, but still find yourself licking the cold blob on a cone, realize the oops moment and be prepared to be more mentally resilient the next time, rather than cursing yourself.   2. De-clutter. What do you require to live a peaceful and healthy life is first and foremost a healthy YOU. And also close friends and family. What you do not necessarily need is all those things advertisers advertise to you. You do not need a pet rock for your life to get any better.   3. Be Healthy and Fit. A healthy body has lots of benefits. Saves 100% on the medical bills. So be healthy. And being fit comes with its own array of benefits. Most people go to the gym. Try attending self-defense classes. You would get that hardcore workout and also a bonus knowledge on how to save yourself, should the situation arise.   4. Save Money. With all skepticism aside. Money Talks. So better to have some of your own when the need arises. Standard rule is that you should at least save 20% of what you earn. But of course you can go beyond that and try investment as well. Trust me, a few years from now, having some bucks on the bank is sure going to help you have a better life.
  5. Learn Something New. To keep things interesting, try learning a few new things always. My goal always has been to try learning one new thing every day. Try TED Talks. Another one for daily dose of information is TED-Ed. Here people who are highly respected in their respective domains, try to give us an idea on how the world works. I guess 20 minutes of your day can be spared for a good thing like this. Boasting off to little kids is also an added advantage.
  6. Manage Those Hours. Everyone has just 24 hours a day. Still where as some people start talking about all the time they didn’t have, there are some who manage to go for Krav Maga, attend the office, go to that Food Fair and also have a BJJ session with their friends, all on the same day and still manage to get a sleep of good 7 hours. The only thing that’s different is that one has a routine of how he wants his day to go and the other is just doing the things because he has to. Define a routine for yourself so that you can manage the everyday tasks and get the important things done rather than the tasks dictating you.
  7. Eat Healthy. I cannot stress this enough how very important it is to eat healthy stuff that keeps your body healthy. You are what you eat. Quite literally. Go for that chikoo shake rather than the minute maids, go for that delicious home cooked meal rather than that fried chicken.   8. Express Gratitude. Just asking someone how are you might just make their day. Start with your parents. Wish them good morning. Ask then if they had breakfast, or whats their plan for today. And then your friends and colleagues. And then watch the positive difference it makes about you. Watch how your vibe changes.
  9. The Early Bird Catches The Worm. Get up early. Just Do It. Don’t you want to be ahead of your competition? Don’t you want to get that head start in the morning? Then try to get up early. End of Story.
10. Never Back Down. Be Optimistic. Its okay to lose. but its not okay to give up. Ever! If you fall 99 times, just get up 100 times. Over time you would develop that resilient mentality that you will not waver even on those harsh times of your life. Because in the end, we are who we are when life just slams us against the wall!
